Vital Hosts Inaugural Government Relations Reception at the Council of the Federation Gathering

This week, as part of the Council of the Federation gathering in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Vital hosted its first government relations reception for Canada's Premiers. Sponsored by McKesson Canada, the event marked an important milestone for our alliance as we continue to strengthen relationships with governments and elevate the role of Canada's pharmaceutical supply chain in shaping public policy.

The reception provided an opportunity to showcase the collective strength of Vital's membership and highlight the essential role Canada's pharmaceutical supply chain plays in supporting healthcare systems and ensuring patients have timely, reliable access to medications. Angelique Berg, President & CEO of Vital, and Dimitris Polygenis, President of McKesson Canada, addressed attendees, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between governments and industry to strengthen Canada's pharmaceutical supply chain, improve system resilience, and help ensure medicines continue to reach hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, and patients safely and reliably. We were honoured to also hear remarks from The Honourable Rob Lantz, Premier of Prince Edward Island, and pleased to welcome Premier Tim Houston of Nova Scotia and representatives from the Office of Premier Wakeham of Newfoundland and Labrador, and at the official Council of the Federation reception, to meet with Premier Doug Ford of Ontario and Premier David Eby of British Columbia. 

This reception also represented an important step in continuing to build awareness of the Vital brand following our launch in May. More importantly, it demonstrated the value of bringing together leaders from across Canada's pharmaceutical supply chain to engage with governments in a meaningful way. As Vital's first government relations event of this kind, it lays the foundation for future engagement and advocacy efforts that will continue to advance the interests of our members and contribute to a stronger, more resilient healthcare system.
