Angelique Berg featured in The Hill Times with opinion editorial on Canada's pharmaceutical strategy

Vital is pleased to share that President and CEO Angelique Berg has been featured in The Hill Times with a timely opinion piece examining the future of Canada's pharmaceutical strategy. In her op-ed, she argues that strengthening Canada's pharmaceutical sovereignty requires recognizing the entire pharmaceutical supply chain as an essential part of the solution. 

The article highlights that while recent recommendations from the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Task Force provide an important roadmap, successful implementation will depend on including distributors, manufacturers, service providers, pharmacies, regulators, and payers in the next phase of policy development. A resilient pharmaceutical system is measured not only by where medicines are made, but by whether patients can access the medications they need when and where they need them. 

She also points to Canada's reliance on imported medicines and the growing pressures on global supply chains as reasons why a whole-of-sector approach is more important than ever. She emphasizes that lasting change will require coordinated action across the entire pharmaceutical ecosystem to improve patient access, strengthen supply resilience, and ensure Canada's pharmaceutical strategy delivers meaningful results for Canadians.
